Thom, I just don't know when you find the time. I don't have time to fix my bikes, let alone fix my bikes and post. You are an inspiration. Expect pictures of the new Raleigh Superbe with details of the SA Hub and a date of origin by the weekend... see, I've publicly stated now, so I can't back out...
Okay, so I know nothing of photography. My SA Hub from the new Raleigh is a '71, but boy oh boy it's just a reflective mess when I try to photography it. Any tips?
You and me both--I have no idea what I'm doing with a camera, technically speaking. This hub, being alloy and being older, is not quite as shiny so it wasn't a problem. I would say make sure the flash is off, that you're in strong light, but not direct sun, and that you try to catch it from an angle, rather than directly head-on so that the stamping catches a bit of a shadow. Trial and error, of course, will eventually get results. That's about all I can offer, I'm afraid.
I am no longer answering technical questions about bicycles or responding to e-mails asking me about value, age, etc. of old bicycles. Please check the resources I have listed on the sidebar if you are looking for this information. This is a comprehensive list of everything I know about, so if you can't find it there, neither can I.

ReplyDeleteWell, it helps that I'm, er, "self" employed at the moment. I'll look forward to that Superbe--I'll hold you to it!
